WRITING CENTER GUIDELINES
The Writing Center is here to help you improve your WRITTEN communication skills in English. To make sure every student benefits, please follow these guidelines:
Who Can Join?
- The Writing Center is open only to ELS students.
Booking & Attendance
- Session length: Each appointment lasts 15 minutes.
- Booking: Please book your appointment at least 24 hours in advance.
- Weekly limit: You may book up to 3 sessions per week.
- Cancellations: If you need to cancel, please do so at least 3 hours before your session by unregistering from your slot and emailing the instructor you have taken the appointment from.
- No-Show Policy: Missing 3 sessions without notice will result in losing booking privileges for the rest of the term.
Punctuality
- Please arrive on time (ideally 5 minutes early).
- Send your essay at least one day before to the instructor you have taken the appointment from.
- If you arrive more than 10 minutes late, your session may be marked as a No-Show.
Preparation
- Come prepared with your essay and questions to improve yourself in written communication.
- Remember, the center’s main focus is writing practice. Exam preparation or other tasks are secondary.
Etiquette
- Keep your phone silent or switched off during the session.
- No food or drink in the room (water is fine).
- Respect your peers and the instructor—what is said in the session stays confidential.
